Santa Gets A Break from the North Pole; Brings Gifts and Smiles to Post 758

The first snow event of December 2007  didn’t keep Santa from his appointed round at our Post Home on December 2, for our Children’s Christmas Party.   Kids and parents were treated to brunch (a Power For The Troops tuneup for Jim Muska) ; the docents from the Ross Park Zoo brought furry and scaled friends for the kids of all ages to get up close and personal with.

The crowd was down, thanks to the weather, but we’re sure next year’s edition will be just as memorable for the children of Legion family members.   Our Auxiliary took the lead in planning this activity; we’re sure they will appreciate your constructive suggestions for next year’s event–the earlier, the better.

I stopped in to the Legion on the 3rd of December ( two days after the children’s Christmas party) and was truly transformed into the Christmas spirit. The hall was decorated with lights, homemade pine wreaths, a lit Christmas tree and lights around hanging swags.

Members obviously cared enough to have this tradition at 758 transpire again this year. What a unique idea to have animals from Ross Park Zoo in attendance for the children. Although I am not a member of 758 in Johnson City, I am the Broome County American Legion Auxiliary President. I am very proud of all members of the American Legion Family at 758 for their community service efforts ‘
